Who it is for
Companies that want email on their own domain without running a mail server. The customer sets it up in the portal: adds the domain, proves ownership through DNS and creates the mailboxes.
How mail flows
Incoming mail arrives at the SMTP receiver or the Postmark Inbound webhook. It is checked (DNSBL, SPF), aliases are expanded and the message is delivered to Dovecot. Outgoing mail goes through Postmark on the customer's own Postmark server, so one customer's sending does not affect the reputation of others.
- Separate streams for transactional mail and mass mailings
- Sent mail is filed in the sender's Sent folder
- Message content is never stored in the database or logs, only metadata
Self-service portal
The portal manages mailboxes, aliases, quotas, app passwords and users, and webmail runs in the browser. When the domain is at joker.com, the portal writes and checks its DNS records automatically. Billing uses Honkio orders.
Install on your own server
The mail stack (mail-api, Dovecot, SMTP receiver, submission and archiver) can be downloaded as a Docker Compose package for one Linux server. Mailboxes are then managed with a command-line tool. The portal needs the Honkio platform.
